Obama Listens To Healthcare Solutions

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama did not come to Portsmouth Tuesday to dictate how he thought the health care system should be changed, but rather to listen to opinions. Asking more questions than his audience, the Illinois Democrat and presidential hopeful heard dozens of stories from Seacoast voters on how the current employer-based system has failed them. The 100 people in attendance, ranging from divorced moms to health care providers, also offered suggestions on how to improve the system.

Will Creatine Be Able To Treat Parkinson’s Disease

The U.S. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke have decided to launch a large-scale clinical trial to study and see whether or not the nutritional supplement creatine will be able to slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease. The double-blind, placebo-controlled study will be conducted at 51 medical centers in the United States and in Canada, and will include 1,720 people with early-stage Parkinson’s disease.

How Safe Are Children’s Cold Medicines?

Federal drug regulators are carefully studying common children’s cold and cough medicines because they beleive that they have not been studied enough before being given to children. One of the top Food and Drug Administration officials, Dr. Charles J. Ganley, stated that the agency is “revisiting the risks and benefits of the use of these drugs in children,”. They are concentrating more on what effect it has on children who are 2 and under.
